The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has announced that four closure orders and four prohibition orders were served on food businesses during the month of April for breaches of food safety legislation pursuant to the FSAI Act, 1998.
The orders were issued by environmental health officers (EHOs) in the HSE West Region, the HSE Dublin Mid Leinster Region and the HSE Dublin North East Region of the country.
Professor Alan Reilly, chief executive, FSAI said, “We have seen a marked increase in the number of Prohibition Orders in April which is a disappointing statistic to be reporting today. We would stress to food businesses the importance of maintaining the highest standards of food safety hygiene practices at all times.”
According to a report in www.clareherald.com, online news service for County Clare in Ireland, closure orders were served on the “Mother India restaurant,” “Kitchen of The Central Bar,” “Honeybear,” Ice cream van, Reg No. W471EOB, and “Roscommon Golf Club Restaurant.”
“We would also encourage food businesses to visit our website, as it is a comprehensive source of information on every aspect of food safety, food hygiene management, food safety training and food legislation. Our advice line 1890 336677, as always, is an additional resource, so there is no excuse for food businesses to be unaware of their legal responsibilities to protect consumer health in relation to food safety,” Reilly added.
