Description of the Business
Enquiry
With more than 40 years history, Jover is
now one of the biggest fruits and vegetables
import and export company in the Netherlands.
They are primarily specialised in apples
and pears. These have been harvested by
selected Dutch and Belgian growers who meet
the strictest quality requirements. Their
products go to retailers throughout Europe
and far beyond. In addition, Jover supplies
a full range of vegetables such as bell
peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers and leafy vegetables.
Jover wants to approach the Indian
market with apples, pears and vegetables,
but their main focus is on selling the Jonagold
apple and Conference pear. Jonagold
is a fairly large, elongated apple with
a yellow skin and an orange to bright-red
blush. It has a sweet and slightly acidic
taste and a delicious aroma. Conference
pear is a large and slender pear. The skin
is often covered with a light russet which
gives the pear a natural protection.
It is a firm, juicy and an excellent eating
pear. The Jonagold and Conference are cultivated
under controlled conditions with GLOBL-GAP
and BRC certificate. They can be sorted
and delivered according to size and quality
specifications in consultation with the
customers. As for fresh vegetables the focus
will be on tomatoes, cucumbers and capsicums.
The unique selling points of these
products are that due to the cold climate
in Holland and Belgium, the apples and pears
have much better flavour and quality than
southern European apples and pears. Dutch
agriculture products have good biologic
control during cultivation and contain the
lowest levels of pesticide residues in the
world. Transportation and logistic expertise
helps to reduce cost. Advanced cultivation,
post-harvest and cold chain management know-how
add due weightage to the good quality of
the products.
Jover is looking for a suitable partner
to sell their apples, pears and vegetables
in the Indian market. Prospects should be
active in the fresh fruit & vegetable
business. They should have reliable and
strong relations with farmers on one hand
and the organized retail sector (such as
top-end hotels and restaurants) on the other.
In other words, Jover is looking for - fruit
and vegetable importers/distributors/dealers/agents,
and/or purchasing centers for supermarkets/retailers.
Besides these types of companies Jover
would also be interested in partnering with:
- seed companies with good relations with
local farmers
- other farm input suppliers, e.g. pesticides
